Fuel Assistance Intake/Certifier Appeals Specialist 

The Intake/Certifier Appeals Specialist interviews and completes applications for individuals applying for the Fuel Assistance program, and reviews work conducted by the agency's applications certifying team. The Fuel Assistance program provides benefits during the coldest months of the year to community members throughout the Community Action Pioneer Valley service area. The Intake/Certifier Appeals Specialist is responsible for conducting interviews with prospective clients, collecting documentation to establish client eligibility, reviewing and means-testing applications, conducting in-person/virtual/phone formal appeal hearings, and maintaining strict confidentiality of client information.

We invite individuals with lived experience who are part of communities that have been historically denied a full opportunity in aspects of economic, social, and civic life to apply. These communities include, but are not limited to, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S, persons with disabilities, and persons adversely impacted by multigenerational poverty or other inequality.

The ideal candidate will have four years of related experience with client services, and/or compiling financial information in a social services setting working with individuals and families with low incomes. This position is open until filled. The initial review of applications begins 9/30/2024. This is a 37.5 hour per week, year-round position. Pay range $19.79 - $21.00/hr.
