WIC BREASTFEEDING/CHESTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR

Community Action Pioneer Valley's WIC program is looking for a compassionate person who wants to make a difference in the lives of others. We seek a part-time breastfeeding peer counselor responsible for providing breast/chest feeding information and counseling to WIC participants at our Amherst/Northampton, MA locations. 

Responsibilities include: attend breastfeeding training classes to become a peer counselor; receive a caseload of WIC clients and make routine periodic contacts with all clients assigned; provide follow through with each client; provide basic breastfeeding information and support to new parents/caregivers including informing them about the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and getting a good start with breastfeeding. 

Qualifications include experience breastfeeding at least one baby (does not have to be currently breastfeeding); current or previous WIC participant; enthusiasm about breastfeeding and the desire to help others enjoy breastfeeding. This is a part-time position of 10 hours per week. Pay range: $18.02-$19.11/hr.
