Science Cafe Fast & Furious Physical extremes of animal movement with Zanne Cox

When we think about the extremes of animal movement, we may picture a cheetah running down a gazelle, putting on a burst of speed to make its kill. But cheetahs are actually pretty slow in comparison to the fastest animals- like jellyfish. Seriously, jellyfish and mantis shrimp are actually faster than cheetahs by far. There are also serious downsides to living life at such a rapid pace. This month, Zanne Cox will explain what we can learn by studying such extreme animals. Science Cafe, run by graduate students, aims to engage the broader community in science discourse outside University walls, with a target audience of adult, non-scientific community members (kids enjoy our Cafes as well though!).
