Description
Amherst Irish Association presents the Third Event in our 2016/2017 Series. Growing up Irish in Springfield with Don Gallagher, Storyteller & Singer. Throughout the the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries Springfield, Massachusetts was a destination for Kerry emigrants, many of them Irish language speakers. In this new place, in the New World, they created a community that evolved its own cultural traditions and practices. But, as the Irish saying goes: Ní mar a shíltear a bítear/Things are never as they appear. On Sunday, November 13th, the Amherst Irish Association is proud to host Springfield's own, storyteller Don Gallagher. Check amherstirish.org for details, or see flyer attached. Your $5 donation includes complementary tea and scones. Established in 2014, Amherst Irish Association/Cumann Gaelach Amherst is a community-based initiative. Our is aim is to host events that explore aspects of Ireland's diaspora, culture and society. Bígí linn/Come, join us!
