Before World War II, Poland was the epicenter of the Jewish world, with four million Jews; today, only 15,000 Jews live there. It wasn?t until after the fall of communism in 1989 that a young generation of Jews began learning about their long-buried ancestry. "The Return" follows four women in their twenties who discovered they were Jewish in their teens and have become dynamic leaders in their nascent Jewish enclaves. The film also looks at the renaissance in Jewish culture in Poland among non-Jews eager to embrace the pre-war shtetl world as a colorful remnant of the country?s history.
