Bedford, NH - April 6, 2016 - Protect your pet cat or dog at the Animal Rescue League of NH's annual low-cost rabies and microchipping event. "Bow Wow Bedford" will take place on Saturday, April 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is available to cat and dog owners from all towns. Representatives from the Towns of Bedford and Goffstown will also be on site for annual dog licensing, and residents from those towns will receive the discounted microchip rate of $15. The cost to all other residents is $20. With the significant concern of reuniting lost pets with their owners on their mind, The League holds this event each spring, and strongly encourages pet owners to take advantage of this easily accessible and very affordable clinic. Microchipping is not just for dogs. Because most cats don?t wear collars, and may not have any other form of identification, less than 2% of cats without microchips are returned home annually. However, if a cat is microchipped, the return-to-owner rate is 20-times higher. Microchipping is available by appointment only from 10am-3pm. To make a microchipping appointment, please call (603) 471-0888. There will also be staff and veterinarians from the Daniel Webster Animal Hospital on hand that day for a rabies clinic. Rabies vaccines will be $10 each, and a one-year vaccine will be issued unless owners bring in proof of a current rabies vaccine, which will allow for a three-year vaccine to be provided. The rabies clinic is from 10am-3pm and no appointment is needed. All dogs attending the event should be on a leash, and cats waiting for their vaccine should be in a crate for their safety. For more information on the event, or to make an appointment for a microchip, call Maureen Prendergast at (603) 471-0888.
