Nakoa is a musical adept who trained to be a concert pianist while growing up on a small goat farm in upstate New York. Ultimately accepted as a vocalist to Berklee College of Music, Matt went on to be a star performer at Manhattan’s famous Brandy’s Piano Bar, with lines waiting outside the door each Saturday night. Since breaking out with his own pop-rock and acoustic folk albums, his song craft has garnered awards, including a win at Kerrville Folk Festival’s prestigious New Folk Competition. Most recently, Nakoa has played at The White House, throughout India, and tours regularly both solo and with folk icon Tom Rush. Boston Globe says: "...Nakoa does not disappoint. Actually, between his piano chops, charismatic stage presence, and heartfelt originals on guitar [...] he drops jaws.”
