Amherst Survival Center's Hike for Hunger
Join the Amherst Survival Center for our 3rd annual Hike for Hunger! You can register as an individual or as part of a team and set your personal hiking goal. Once you register, you’ll be able to create your own fundraising page to collect donations from family, friends, and neighbors.
Come October, join us for our Hike for Hunger Kick Off and head out on the trails wherever and whenever you’d like, including a number of our group hikes! Everyone who registers will receive a 2022 Hike for Hunger t-shirt. What is Hike for Hunger? You can register as an individual, household, or a team.
Set your personal goal for Hike for Hunger. You can choose one of the following examples, or set your own: In my #Hike4Hunger, I will be going the distance! I’ll be hiking __ miles to raise money to make sure everyone in our community has the food they need! I’ll be taking ___ hikes in my #Hike4Hunger. Let's give hunger the boot! In my #Hike4Hunger, I'll be hitting the trails ___ days this month, hiking in solidarity with my neighbors to make sure everyone has the food they need during these challenging times. I’ve joined #Hike4Hunger and am reaching for the stars! This month, I’ll be hiking ___ feet of elevation, setting my sights on a community without hunger. I'm going on 8 hikes in recognition of the 8% of Hampshire County residents facing food insecurity. How do I participate?
Hike for Hunger is meant to be a fun event. You can choose to track your mileage, elevation, and time on the trails, and watch yourself 'virtually' traverse Western MA on the map. (The map is a virtual representation of your progress.) Hikers with a Strava account can use it to track their data, others simply need to manually enter this information. Tracking your mileage is completely optional, but is required to compete for a prize in this category. However you choose to participate, we encourage you to share it with friends and family and ask them to support you in this effort.
