Description
Amherst Irish Association presents the Forth Event in our 2016/2017 Series. A Different Story, Now: Irish-US Migration with Íde O'Carroll (Social Researcher, Writer and Visiting Scholar, Glucksman Ireland House, New York University) Something happened at the end of the twentieth century to unsettle what had been a one-way story of emigration from Ireland to America. Return to the home place became possible. Many left. Others remained. Irrespective of location, with advances in technology along with cheap air fares, people continued to connect across the Atlantic in ways that almost dissolved the distance. Bígí linn/Come, join us!
