Valley offers $50,000 Mortgage Subsidies for First-Time Homebuyers in Easthampton
Valley Community Development was awarded a $150,000 grant through the City of Easthampton's Community Preservation Act (CPA) to provide mortgage subsidies for eligible first-time homebuyers purchasing homes in Easthampton.
This funding will provide three $50,000 mortgage subsidies to support first-time homebuyers navigating today's competitive housing market. The subsidies can be used to reduce the total cost of a housing mortgage, lowering the amount a buyer may need to borrow from a traditional bank or lender.
"Without support from these funds, most moderate-income buyers just can’t afford to buy in Easthampton," says Donna Cabanna, Valley’s Homeownership Program Manager. Donna adds, "These funds allow buyers to lower their mortgage payment by around $300 a month.” This reduces the barrier of entry for buyers and helps them save for repairs and maintenance.
As the Spring homebuying season closes, buyers face high demand and competition. Valley encourages homebuyers to explore all available resources early in their homebuying journey. The Easthampton mortgage subsidy program is part of Valley’s efforts to expand access to homeownership. Valley also offers First-Time Homebuyer education to help people make informed decisions about buying, owning, and maintaining a home.
