Presented as part of the Pioneer Valley Jewish Film Festival “The Chop” Yossi, a charismatic, young butcher, has lost his job. After having trouble finding a new job, he decides to pretend that he's Muslim in order to get work at a Halal butcher shop. Can he keep his job while also keeping his Jewish identity intact? “Egg Cream” This bubbling screening offers a sweet look at the memory, history, and enduring meaning of a beloved chocolate soda drink, born in Jewish immigrant neighborhoods at the turn of the 20th century. “Gefilte” After months of preparation for a massive Passover feast, the whole mishpocha (family) gathers in anticipation of the time-honored holiday fish dish, in this heartwarming tribute to Jewish traditions and the joyous bond of family and food. “Wendy's Shabbat” Friends in a retirement community usher in Shabbat with candles, challah, and grape juice at a local fast-food restaurant. The group is happy to celebrate together and the Wendy's staff is proud to be part of such a lovely ritual. For more information and to purchase tickets: http://www.pvjff.org/films-by-name/the-chop
