Portraits of Sholem Aleichem and Theodore Bikel are woven together in this enchanting documentary. A pioneer of modern Jewish literature, Sholem Aleichem created memorable characters who offer windows into pre-war Eastern European Jewish life; Bikel was the foremost interpreter of Sholem Aleichem's work, playing his character Tevye on stage more than 2,000 times and creating two celebrated musical plays about the great author.
