DESCRIPTION:This event is part of YIDSTOCK 2015: Nigunim - the wordless vocal melodies of the Hasidim\, written by rebbes and other composers to induce spiritual and ecstatic states and express communal joy - are the musical DNA of much Yiddish and klezmer music. This workshop\, led by trumpeter Frank London\, composer/vocalist Polina Shepherd\, and clarinetist Merlin Shepherd - all of whom have all delved into the roots of this music and incorporate it into their own work - will explore these melodies and get everyone singing ... and perhaps even induce a spiritual\, pre-Shabbos high.
